The EN 1092-1 Type 21 Integral Loose Plate Flange (also referred to as Integral Loose Plate Flange with collar) is a non-welding flange plate designed for use in a Lap Joint Assembly. The key distinguishing feature is its integral collar — a collar that is machined as one piece with the plate body — which serves as the centering and supporting surface against the pipe.
Unlike a standard slip-on flange (Type 12), the Type 21 plate is not welded to the pipe. Instead, the collar (Type 32) is butt-welded to the pipe end, and the Type 21 plate slides over the collar and is held captive against it. This design allows the flange plate to rotate freely, making alignment and maintenance significantly easier.

Step 1: The Type 32 Loose Collar is butt-welded to the pipe end.
Step 2: The Type 21 Integral Loose Plate slides over the collar.
Step 3: Bolts pass through the flange bolt holes; the collar OD centers the plate.
Result: The plate can rotate 360° without disturbing the pipe weld — ideal for confined spaces or frequent maintenance.
